Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor. Performs independently and works with other departments and analysts on commodity risk management and credit risk analysis processes. Objectives include establishing and promoting open communication between Mid Office and marketing groups, legal department, senior management, and internal audit; promoting effectiveness and efficiency in the internal control structures throughout the Company; and analyzing/tracking financial information and documentation to determine, mitigate, and communicate credit risk.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*Analyzes commodity trading transactions to ensure that risk and performance are being properly reported and captured in underlying risk reporting system
*Maintains risk reporting system models in an auditable format for internal and external review to meet the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley and operational controls
*Enters commodity transactions into system of record in an accurate and timely manner
*Communicates risk management processes, results and recommendations to management and employees to support the implementation of Risk Management Policies
*Prepares daily credit risk reports, proactively addressing over line issues with counterparties and Marketing Department in an effective manner
*Owns credit document execution process; effectively coordinates multiple department sign offs with strong follow through skills and attention to detail
*Coordinates credit information gathering processes with internal and external customers
*Assists in maintaining systems of electronic files and handling of routine requests
*Reviews company contracts for potential credit risks; identifies risks and communicates results clearly
*Participates actively in credit discussions
*Prepares reports and summaries independently
Individual’s work history clearly demonstrates a high level of self-motivation, persistence, and ability to track multiple workflows at once. Individual has already established a strong and effective personal style of organization and communication, can demonstrate a history of increasingly developed problem-solving abilities, and has a desire to work in the energy risk field.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in finance, economics, accounting, or related field. One to two years of relevant work experience required.
Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong abilities to resolve issues independently, convey requests and policies effectively, and distill complex information into summary form are required. Candidate must be comfortable initiating conversations and requests for information, asking questions, and proactively following up on requests, both within and outside the company.
Intermediate computer skills to include knowledge of Excel, MS Word. Analytical skills using spreadsheets and /or database software are required.
