The REC Originator Power Origination role will be responsible for identifying and executing commercial opportunities and general business matters that are required to capture new business in the renewable energy credit and environmental attribute market.
Identify opportunities that will add value to BP's renewable energy credit and environmental attribute portfolio, (RECs) both purchases and sales.
Lead the development and delivery of transactions including the development and structuring of complex credit arrangements
Manage external relationships with selected third party companies including new project developers; investor, municipal and cooperative electric utilities; corporate entities involved with renewable energy products, and private equity firms,
Develop marketing strategies and tactics directed at securing REC transactions.
Manage internal deal approval requirements IST.
Develop a strong relationship with the trading benches and functions.
Bachelors degree in related field
Essential experience and job requirements
Proven track record transacting physical and financial complex REC transactions.
Five years of experience in the energy industry with at least three years developing REC and/or environmental attribute transactions.
Relationships with existing market participants in the REC space along with a proven track record of customer development.
Extensive knowledge of federal and state renewable legislation and regulation coupled with a desire to monitor legislative and regulatory activities and apply learnings to strategy development.
Proven commercial experience and negotiating skills.
Knowledge of energy derivatives and risk management systems.
Detailed knowledge of the energy trading industry.
Knowledge of energy trading and origination operations.
