Provides legal counsel for a wide variety of legal issues to Blue Mountain, interacting closely on a daily basis with the Blue Mountain executive team and all levels of employees, including the General Counsel for the Company.
Manages the overall operations of legal department for Blue Mountain and serves as Blue Mountain’s corporate secretary.
Counsels and advises on midstream transactions, possible acquisitions and other investments.
Leads the establishment of Blue Mountain’s legal policies, goals, and objectives.
Responsible for identifying and analyzing legal issues, presenting clear recommendations, and assuring legal compliance.
Oversees the preparation of business contracts and administration of other legal matters; negotiates and structures contracts and licensing agreements.
Leads and coaches all Blue Mountain lawyers and employees within Blue Mountain’s legal, business affairs, and government relations departments on standards and practices.
Maintains corporate legal records for Blue Mountain.
Strategically manages Blue Mountain’s legal budget, including outside counsel spend.
Selects and oversees outside counsel representing Blue Mountain Midstream in transactional, litigation, and all other legal matters.
Actively champions the Company’s ethics and integrity by visibly and regularly educating employees on the Company’s compliance policy and coordinating with the Company’s General Counsel on the implementation of that policy.
Education, Certificates, Licenses
J.D. from an accredited law school.
15+ years of legal experience within the oil and gas industry, preferably including significant experience in at least one of the following areas: corporate governance securities, or midstream transactions

Willingness to devote sufficient time to effectively manage all areas of responsibility.
Ability to work effectively with the executive team.
Ability to bring practical judgment to bear in connection with legal solutions.
Experience managing litigation and assessing legal risk in difficult situations, such as a matter of acute time pressure or an issue of great materiality to a company.
Significant transactional experience working as a member of a team negotiating business development & marketing agreements, mergers, acquisitions, and/or divestitures.
Significant experience with SEC filings and public company corporate secretary responsibilities.
Primarily office work environment.
Routine work involves common office activities during a typical 9-hour day such as standing, sitting, walking, typing, twisting as necessary.
May be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must follow all company safety policies, including when visiting field locations.
