\t\t Position Description
Support Kinder Morgan\u2019s (KM\u2019s) Products Pipelines Regional Operations Pipeline Safety Program to ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial pipeline safety regulatory requirements in the United States and Canada by reviewing current and proposed pipeline safety regulations and legislation to determine KM\u2019s compliance or actions needed to comply, coordinating and participating in pipeline safety audits/inspections and supporting/participating in various KM internal processes designed to promote operational excellence in pipeline safety.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for reviewing proposed federal and state/provincial pipeline safety legislation and regulations and providing feedback to management as to the impact that new law/regulations will have on the compliance requirements.
Responsible for reviewing new regulations and existing Business Unit standards and procedures to determine compliance of those new regulations.
Recommend changes to applicable procedures through the Management of Change process to remain in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Conduct annual Business Unit L-O&M procedure review.
Coordinate and participate in DOT, NEB and applicable state/provincial pipeline safety audits.
Coordinate written response needed as a result of any agency pipeline safety audit.
Assist in collection and review of data associated with KM\u2019s annual report filing to the applicable Federal and/or state/provincial pipeline safety programs.
Participate in Business Unit Emergency Release Notification Team \u2013 on call 24/7.
Participate in Business Unit Emergency Response when requested - liaison with federal and state/provincial pipeline safety agencies.
Participate in Root Cause Analysis and various other investigations related to pipeline incidents, as circumstances require.
Responsible for collecting and reviewing data, and the online or written report submittal of applicable accident reports to USDOT, CSFM, TXRRC, NEB, TSB, and other states/provincial pipeline safety programs as required.
Responsible to ensure that the Business Unit\u2019s current incident tracking system is consistent with PHMSA Accident Report.
Participate in Regional Abnormal Operations/Accident Review Committee.
Support Public Awareness program for Regional Operations and coordinate responses from KM\u2019s Public Awareness web site.
Assist in compiling data and statistical analysis for internal and external reporting, such API Pipeline Performance Tracking System, and quarterly submittals.
Be willing to attend and/or participate in various industry and/or pipeline safety seminars.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Applicant must be willing and able to work extended hours on short notice for extended periods of time.
Applicant must be willing and able to work some weekends as required.
Required to carry a Company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours 24/7.\u00a0
50% plus travel required within the United States and Canada, sometimes on short notice.\u00a0
Travel will be by most suitable method to meet company needs, such as airplane or car.\u00a0
Be willing to travel occasionally on Saturday or Sunday as needed to meet Business Unit obligations.
Experience / specific knowledge:
Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal direct supervision.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government regulating agencies.
Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to interact with individuals at all levels in the organization.
Working experience and application knowledge of United States DOT \u2013 49 CFR Part 195, and applicable state pipeline safety regulations.
Working experience and application knowledge of Canada\u2019s National Energy Board (NEB) Pipeline Safety ACT, Onshore Pipeline Regulations, and CSA Z662, preferred.
Working experience and knowledge of Management of Change Processes preferred.
Knowledge of Management Safety Systems preferred.
Working experience and application knowledge of various pipeline industry related standards such as API, ASME, NACE, NFPA, and CSA, preferred.
Must be able to work with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.
Must be capable of completing and tracking multiple tasks simultaneously, and often under strict deadlines.
Proven organizational and time management skills required.
Intermediate to excellent proficiency level in computer skills (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel).
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver\u2019s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties and applicable to the job classification
Completion of any site specific training may be applicable
Ability to travel within the United States and Canada
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s) and lead personnel, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules. Position Level:
The employment job level will be commensurate with pipeline safety regulatory experience or degree, so it may be filled as an Analyst-Regulatory, Specialist \u2013 Pipeline Technical or Engineer \u2013 Pipeline.
Be able to work in appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) in both hot and cold climates.
Be able to work in both office and outside field environments.

Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
Prior pipeline safety regulatory or pipeline operation experience is required with specific knowledge of Canada\u2019s National Energy Board preferred.
