client is looking to hire a Senior Landman
with a strong legal background and experience in East Texas
to join their growing team on a direct hire basis.
Thriving oil and gas company that develops, constructs, and manages energy businesses throughout North America.
Senior Landman Role:
Provide knowledge, research, and coordinate major land dealings tied to overall drilling and operations throughout the company’s east Texas play.
Research lease status, land rights, and regional regulatory requirements for new and existing production areas.
Actively negotiate and manage lease terms and conditions with each landowner.
Assist in the discussion of growth options and operator terms for the future.
Negotiate property rights and acquisitions, confirming owner details, communicating with operators, and managing the due diligence process tied to deeds, tax maps, and other real estate drawings.
Coordinate with government agencies and utilities involved.
Examine related documents tied to mortgages, liens, judgements, easements, maps, and ownership documents.
Draft and administer contracts, leases, and record affidavits, notices, deeds, and permit applications.
Track land market trends and coordinate with management for upcoming opportunities.
Work in applications like ArcGIS to ensure accurate mapping/
Review, draft, and oil and gas agreements including communization agreements, pooling agreements, JOAs, production sharing agreements, and manage additional items including exhibits, leases, titles, and term assignments.
Senior Landman Background Profile:
JD/law degree and licensed practitioner
Bachelor’s degree in petroleum land management or other related degree field is required.
7 years of landman experience
6 years of oil/gas lease management
Multi-rig horizontal drilling land support is preferred
